Waita is the whetu who watches over the vast moana - the tides, the currents, and all the life that stirs beneath the waves.

He holds our connection to salt water, to the abundance of the sea, and the kai that feeds generations.

As he rises, he offers a tohu for the year ahead - revealing how plentiful the ocean’s harvest will be.

He is the pulse of Tangaroa, the salt in the wind, the deep breath of the sea that sustains and surrounds us.
