Keep your little one snug in a beautifully hand-knitted hat, lovingly made locally using Opal Wool – Hundertwasser 686. This special colourway is inspired by the artwork of Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, known for his vibrant, organic designs that celebrate individuality and creativity.

The design behind Hundertwasser 686 is drawn from the artist’s silk screen print with metallic imprints (1969–1970). The original work features a dense, abstracted cityscape with curved buildings and irregular windows, with three circular forms layered in vivid colours. Hundertwasser experimented boldly with new printing methods for this piece — including metallic-stamp printing, phosphorescent ink, reflecting glass-bead appliqués, and convex embossing — resulting in stunning depth and texture.

Each print was hand-signed and numbered, with up to 120 unique colour variations, reinforcing Hundertwasser’s belief that every creation should be one of a kind. This philosophy is reflected in the yarn itself, where every skein produces a unique pattern, making each hat truly individual.

Made from 75% virgin wool (superwash) and 25% polyamide, this hat is soft, absorbent, durable, and machine washable at 40°C. The superwash finish ensures it remains non-felting and unshrinkable, combining artistic flair with everyday practicality.
