Keep your little one cosy in a beautifully hand-knitted hat, crafted locally using Opal Wool – Hundertwasser 894. Each piece is unique, inspired by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, whose vibrant works celebrate the harmony between nature and human life through colour, form, and organic design.
The Hundertwasser 894 colourway draws from his 1987 painting “Positive Soul Trees – Negative Houses of Men” (Positive Seelenbäume – Negative Menschenhäuser), originally titled Die Regalenstadt (The Shelf City). Created between April 5 and August 15, 1987, this mixed-media work combines watercolour, acrylic priming, collage, egg tempera, acrylic, oil, and Indian ink on linen. Hundertwasser described it as a “fable” or “fairytale composition,” highlighting the constructive power of nature versus the destructive tendencies of human buildings. His signature upside-down imagery transforms flowers into rain, reflecting his rejection of rigid perspective and embrace of organic forms — qualities echoed in the gentle, vibrant tones of this yarn.
Made from 75% virgin wool (superwash) and 25% polyamide, this hat is soft, absorbent, durable, and machine washable at 40°C. The superwash finish ensures it remains non-felting and unshrinkable, combining practical care with artistic inspiration.
