Sandy Adsett (MNZM) is one of Aotearoa's most iconic contemporary Maori artists and is considered a master of kowhaiwhai and colour.

Beyond his own practice, Adsett has had a profound impact on Maori visual arts education, where he has mentored generations of Maori artists. His students, many of whom have become prominent figures in New Zealand's art world, carry forward his legacy of integrating Maori identity and tradition into contemporary art.
