“He Kakano Ahau”—translated as “I am a seed”—draws inspiration from the traditional Maori folk song of the same name, evoking themes of identity, whakapapa, and resilience.

Emily is Toi Iho registered, a mark of authenticity and quality in Maori art, and her work is known for its powerful cultural narratives and expressionist style.
