This bold lithographic print is based on a powerful recent work by Emily Karaka, one of Aotearoa’s foremost contemporary Maori artists. Titled “Lament”, the piece is a requiem for Nuku, a respected tribal leader of Karaka’s iwi, Ngai Tai, and reflects her deeply personal and political artistic voice.

Karaka is a Toi Iho-registered artist, a mark of authenticity and excellence in Maori visual arts.
