Hundertwasser visited Aotearoa New Zealand for the first time in 1974 and made home here, becoming a New Zealand citizen in 1986. The name of this plate is derived from the Maori name for our country, which Hundertwasser liked to write as Ao Tea Roa.

Decorated by hand in 18 colours, this piece features gold and platinum elements and has been fired six times at 1200° Celsius.
